Kolkata: Sweet stadium and sugar-coated tricolour sweets to celebrate India-Pakistan Champions Trophy match

But cricket lovers and Virat Kohli fans left no stone upturned in bringing the live feel of the match in Kolkata.  Living up to its expectation of being a unique combination of sports and sweet capital of India, the city prepared sweets in the tricolour combination anticipating Team India’s victory against Pakistan.A renowned sweet shop designed the interiors of the shop depicting a stadium with India and Pakistan flags fluttering high on both sides of the stadium. The men in blue and green were sugar coated to suit people’s taste buds.Gajendra Gupta, proprietor of Gupta Brothers, of The Abarkhabo Sweet Shop in Kolkata  explained the enthusiasm in the form of a stadium made out of sugar, sweet condensed milk and sugar syrup.”There is a lot of excitement for the match, so keeping that in mind we prepared sweets and incorporated the flag in most of our sweets to represent Team India. We also made a replica of the stadium where the match will be played in Birmingham. People are enjoying it”.At a time when India is battling terror at the Indo-Pak border, many feel it will be a rebuttal on the 22 yards.”We have been waiting for India to take on Pakistan because it is taking place after a long time. I preponed my daughter’s function as nobody to miss on the match,” said Trishtha Sharma, a graduate.advertisementA cricket enthusiast Nitish, who had come to buy the tricolour sweets, said, “First of all it is a Sunday and it is India taking on Pakistan, so it’s definitely going to spice up things”.”It’s not only about Virat Kohli on the pitch with the team, we are more excited because its India versus Pakistan.
