first_imgPamela is crowned the Queen of Grianan.Promoted postOnly one local woman can proudly claim the title of Grianan Queen since the time of the O’Neills and their legendary reign at Grianan of Aileach. Now that queen, Pamela Crowe, who was crowned in 2009 in preparation for Burt’s hosting of the international sheep shearing championships, must hand on the title to the 2015 queen who will be elected in the Halfway House on Sunday next, 3rd May. Once again, this event will herald the opening of Burt’s preparations for the hosting of the International, all Ireland and Six Nations Sheep Shearing Championships on the Grianan Estate from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st of May.The 2009 sheep shearing championships attracted over 15000 visitors and this year’s promises to be at least as exciting with a greater number of family attractions, a food quarter and a huge number of traditional craft displays, sheep-dog trials, fun fair and family fun activities too numerous to mention.Sunday’s event will see a panel of local judges undertake the unenviable task of selecting a queen from a list of very worthy candidates, some of whom will be representing local pubs, clubs and hotels.Music on the night will be provided by local band ‘Smalltalk’,and the crowning of the queen will be followed by a disco with dancing until late. Tickets are €10 and are available at the door. Door opens 8pm. All are welcome to what promises to be an entertainment packed evening of music and craic. GRIANAN TO CROWN A NEW QUEEN! was last modified: April 27th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegalInishowenPamela CroweQueen of Aileachlast_img
