Vettel takes step towards world of virtual racing

first_imgSebastian Vettel has never been one for social media or had much time for esports but even the four-times world champion has shifted his stance, however slightly, under Formula One’s coronavirus lockdown.Although the 32-year-old Ferrari driver is still not remotely tempted by Twitter or Instagram, he has acquired a gaming rig. Just how much the German uses it remains to be seen.Rivals, including his Monegasque team mate Charles Leclerc, who has thrown himself enthusiastically into virtual racing in the absence of any real life track action, can probably rest easy though. “The truth is I didn’t have a simulator until a couple of days ago so I have not been tempted because I didn’t have the chance,” Vettel told reporters when asked in an online media session about any interest in esports.”I have heard a lot of things about so I thought I might get one and try it, but I need to still set it up properly,” he added.Leclerc, a two-times winner last season who also finished ahead of Vettel in the standings, won the virtual Vietnamese Grand Prix this month on his debut in the new Formula One esports race series.Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon, McLaren’s Lando Norris, Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi and the Williams pairing of George Russell and Nicholas Latifi have also kept their hands in online as they wait for the season to start. Seven Formula One races have been postponed so far and organizers are talking of a reduced calendar possibly running into January.”Generally I’m not going to foresee a career in sim racing,” said Vettel.”I think it’s more something to try for fun. I grew up with some of the stuff and I’ve been playing some games but to be honest since I had kids it’s not the first thing on my list to do,” added the father of three.”I’m aware that some people take it very seriously and spend a lot of time there but I also enjoy doing other things.”Vettel and former team mate Kimi Raikkonen, now with Alfa Romeo and the oldest driver on the grid at 40, are similar in that they both live in Switzerland and guard their privacy closely. The Ferrari driver made clear he was not about to develop a Twitter following.”I have not progressed on social media,” he said. “I didn’t have the time. It’s something I never started so it doesn’t feel like I miss it.” center_img Topics :last_img read more

Trout season on inland streams opens April 27

first_imgIndianapolis, In. — Thousands of stocked trout will be available to Indiana anglers on opening day of inland stream trout fishing on Saturday, April 27.In order to protect stocked trout, certain streams are closed to all fishing from April 15 until opening day. In addition, some sections of streams are designated as year-round “catch and release only,” and “artificial lures or flies only.”The DNR will have stocked 23,425 rainbow trout in 17 streams covering 12 counties for the opener. The stocked trout come from Curtis Creek Trout Rearing Station near Howe in LaGrange County and average roughly 11 inches in length.Anglers can catch trout on natural live bait such as worms and wax worms. Corn and small marshmallows, either plain white or colored, are also popular. Artificial lures such as spinners and flies entice trout as well. The bag limit for trout in inland waters, other than Lake Michigan and its tributaries, is five fish per day with a minimum size of 7 inches. No more than one of these can be a brown trout.Anglers age 18 and older need an Indiana fishing license and a trout/salmon stamp to fish for trout. The inland stream trout season officially starts at 6 a.m. local time on April 27.A link to the Indiana Fishing Guide is here.Find a stocked stream near you by clicking here.last_img read more

Beckham one of the best of all time in midfield: Brazilian Ronaldo

first_imgLondon: Brazilian football great Ronaldo has said that former England captain and his Real Madrid teammate David Beckham is one of the best players of all time.Ronaldo and Beckham were both part of the famous Galacticos’ team between 2003 until 2007.“One of the first people that I ever saw was you,” Beckham said to Ronaldo over Instagram Live. “When you walked into the changing room it made me comfortable to be in the club.”Ronaldo replied, saying: “Man, you are amazing. For me, you are one of the best of all time in the centre.“The way you would touch the ball, the way you could get the ball wherever you want, and without looking at me. I should thank you for the many balls you gave to me,” said the ace striker. While Beckham moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2003, Ronaldo joined them one year earlier from Inter Milan.Beckham also spoke about his new MLS franchise Inter Miami with the club’s inaugural season interrupted by the ongoing coronavirus crisis.“It’s difficult times. You know, I think with Inter Miami, this was the first season. We played two games so far. We haven’t played a home game yet in our stadium,” Beckham said, as quoted by Goal.“The first week of the lockdown was when we were going to go play our first game. So it’s difficult, but I think that the most important thing is that obviously, everybody stays healthy, stays safe, and then we can take the advice of the governments and the places where we’re going to be playing. But I think that that’s the most important thing.“With Inter Miami, we’re excited…it’s a special place with special people and to have the team that we have, to have the players that we have, to have the ownership group and to have the stadium and the (training) facility that we have is really exciting for us.“I tried to take things from Manchester to Madrid to Milan to PSG, to the (LA) Galaxy. All the teams that I’ve played at, I tried to take a little bit from every team into this organisation. So we’re really excited. We’re really excited to be owners of the team. It’s something that feels different, but it’s special.” IANSAlso Read: ‘Ronaldo wink was nothing’: Wayne Rooney recalls 2006 WC quarter finalAlso Watch: Hagrama Mohilary organizes a press-meet on Coronavirus situation and distribution of Rationslast_img read more
