Donegal takes centre stage at TG4 celebrations

first_imgTG4 are to celebrate their 20th birthday with a special Oíche Shamhna live extravaganza – and Donegal will take centre stage.Oíche Shamhna 2016 looks set to deliver one of the most spectacular celebrations with the live broadcast of TG4’s twentieth birthday party. TG4XX Beo will broadcast live from 9.30pm to 11.30pm on the channel.TG4XX Beo is a 360o visual feast celebrating Ireland’s rich culture, language, music and dance. All elements in the show will tie in to the main theme – the Passing of the Torch. TG4XX Beo is about old traditions and new directions fusing together – music, dance, songs, guests and conversation representing our culture at it’s very best. TG4XX Beo is a celebration of twenty years of TG4 on air and all it has achieved keeping the flame of Irish culture alight and allowing it to shine brighter and further afield.Oíche Shamhna provides the backdrop for this magical night with thirty specially created characters, created by Billy Mag Fhloinn, taking centre stage for an evening of extraordinary festivities.TG4XX Beo will take place in venues all over the country, from the main central purpose built pavilion at the NUIG Quad in the heart of Galway city, from the home of TG4 in Baile na hAbhann in the Connemara Gaeltacht as well as two satellite units, one at the western tip of the Dingle Peninsula in west Kerry Gaeltacht at the legendary Páidí Ó Sé pub and the second in Donegal at Ionad Cois Locha, Gweedore. The very special guest at the Quad in NUIG will be Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D Higgins who will give a live address during the programme. His presence is of particular significance, given that one of his most praised achievements as Arts Minister in the 1990s was the establishment of Teilifís na Gaeilge, now TG4. He is held in particular affection for that. A very special welcome will surely be extended to him.TG4XX Beo will feature many bespoke performances and arrangements over this extraordinary two hours show including: HotHouse Flowers, Máirtín O’Connor and the Big Band, Prodijig, Duke Special & Ulaid, Imlé with Maitiú Ó Casaide, Nell Ní Chróinín & Séamus Ó Beaglaoích, Aeons agus Muireann Nic Amhlaobh & Seamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin, Pólca 4, Kormac & Daithi, Liam Ó Maonlaí and a specially curated performance with choirs from various Gaeltacht communities plus many more. Speaking about this unique event, Executive Director/Producer, Paul McKay Gifted Empire Productions said “TG4XX Beo will bring together some of the very best talent this country has to offer and we hope to light a flame that lasts for the next twenty years.”Newly appointed TG4 Director General, Alan Esslemont is very much looking forward to the event. “Oíche Shamhna has always been a special date in the Celtic imagination,” he said “ and this spectacular event will mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the TG4 story”.Donegal takes centre stage at TG4 celebrations was last modified: October 26th, 2016 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more

Finally, Twitter Will Let You Download All Your Tweets

first_imgFacebook is Becoming Less Personal and More Pro… Tags:#social media#twitter Related Posts How Does It Work?Turns out that for now it’s available only to select users. And only in English. The function is being rolled out slowly. Twitter says the service will be available to all users in every language the service provides in the coming weeks and months.Want to see if you’re one of the lucky guinea pigs who are able to access the archive right away? Here’s what to do: Log in to Twitter, go to Settings, scroll down to the bottom to see if you have the option to “Request your archive.” If you see the button, you’re eligible (unfortunately I was not eligible). Once you click the button, “You’ll receive an email with instructions on how to access your archive when it’s ready for you to download,” Vandor promises in the blog post. For heavy Twitter users with thousands of tweets, the archive feature should be a useful tool to preserve and remember what they’ve said, experienced and shared. And you can imagine how much it will help biographers and historians. But really, this feature affects how everyone uses Twitter – making a instantaneous, immediate medium just a little more lasting and permanent. And if your archive unearths some tweet-worthy old tweets… tweet ’em. Twitter asks that you “share your favorites using #TwitterArchive.” Check it out.  Image courtesy of Shutterstock. On Wednesday, after months of anticipation, Twitter officially introduced an archive function that will allow its 150 million active users to download every one of their tweets. That’s right, now you can do what the Library of Congress has been trying to do for the past few years: Collect and save all of your tweets!“You’ll get all your Tweets (including Retweets) going back to the beginning,” Twitter user services engineer Mollie Vandor wrote on the Twitter blog Wednesday. “Once you have your Twitter archive, you can view your tweets by month, or search your archive to find tweets with certain words, phrases, hashtags or @usernames. You can even engage with your old tweets just as you would with current ones.”This upgrade has been a long time coming, and a lot of people have been clamoring for Twitter to make this available. Now it is. The only thing is, most people will have to wait to get admitted into the tweet-archive party.last_img read more

While it isn’t possible to take along your entire wardrobe when travelling, or carry a whole range of shadows and lipsticks, a few simple tips can ensure youre always at your stylish best. The key to selecting travel clothes is interchangeability. Ensure that your tops and bottoms pair well in every combination. Stick with simple and classic styles and choose a neutral colour scheme for your wardrobe.Opt for fabrics that behave and are low-maintainence. Leave your linens and cottons home. Travel in synthetic blends that don’t wrinkle. Some of the staples items you need are a LBD, white shirt, a pair of denims, a blazer, a cashmere cardigan and neutral colour pumps and flats. Reversible skirts are great as well since they can be repeated with different tops. A small trinket box is a must. Select a couple of jewellery items that can be paired with all your ensembles. To channel the flower child in you, opt for flower hair clips, reminiscent of the groovy 70s. When in doubt about how to use the accessory, always remember that less is more. The key to choosing the perfect hair accessory is to find the one that complements you well and enhances your style quotient instead of cramping it.
